Scouts Year End Party (Dec 17th)

This will be our last regular meeting for 2014 before we break for the holidays.  Regular meetings will begin again on January 7, 2015 at the Parkallen School.  We will be meeting at the Parkallen School on December 17th starting at 6:30 PM.  We will be having an end of the 2014 year party, handing out badges, giving Scouts their "Scout Truck" kits to work on over the holiday break.

Scout Skate 2014 (Dec 10th)

We will be meeting at the George S. Hughes Arena at 10525-72 Ave. we will be there for public skate from 6:30 to 7:30. To maximize the skate time feel free to show up before 6:30 to put your skates on.

Scout Toboggan - Dec 3rd

Our next two meetings will be away from the Parkallen School and our last meeting before the holiday break will be on December 17th at the Parkallen School.

This week we will be going tobogganing at the Alfred H. Savage Centre (13204 Fox Drive) starting at 6:30 PM.  Please dress for the weather and bring on the adventure.

Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (Nov 26)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week and we will have special guest from the Wildlife Rehabilitation Society visiting us.

Scouts are reminded to bring an item from the Society's wish list that we can donate.  The wish list is at wildlife-edm.ca/donations/wish-list/.

Survivor Scout (Nov 19th)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week.  We will be working on scout day packs and survival kits.  Scouts will need to bring a day pack and a water proof container.

Scouts - No Meeting This Week (Nov 12th)

There will be no meeting this week as leaders and Venturers need to recharge after Fall Camp.  We will be back at the Parkallen School Gym next week on November 19th.

Scout Investiture 2014 (Nov 5th)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School in full uniform this week as we will be inversting our new members.  We will also be preparing for our upcoming Fall Camp on November 7th - 9th.

2014 Scout Halloween Party

It is that time again to put on our best costumes and have some fun.   This will be your test run before we go to our Spooky Fall Camp in Evansburg next weekend.  We will be meeting at the Parkallen School at our regular meeting time.

Scout Swim 2014 (Oct 22nd)

Scouts will be going for a swim this week at the Commonwealth Recreation Centre Pool (11000 Stadium Road, attached to the Commonwealth Stadium, home of the Edmonton Eskimos!!!!) starting at 6:30 PM. Please dress warm and bring change for the locker rental.

Scouts Annual Nature Walk (Oct 15th)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week to take part in our annual Fall Nature Walk through the Parkallen Neighbourhood. We will be delivering flyers for our upcoming Bottle Drive / Food Bank Drive taking place on October 18th. Please dress in uniform and dress for the weather.

What it means to be a Scout - Oct 8th

Scouts were given the task last week to review the Scout Law, Promise and Motto.  This week will be going over what each means.

Our Scouts have started to raise money for our service project.  All money raised will be donated to the Eliminate Project to rid the world of Maternal Neonatal Tetanus.  Every $2 raised saves a mother and her future children from tetanus.  Please check out the Eliminate Project at http://sites.kiwanis.org/Kiwanis/en/theELIMINATEproject/home.aspx for more information.

Scouts Eliminating Tetanus with Kiwanis (Oct 1st)

Scouts will be meeting with at the Parkallen School Gym this week.

Scouts will be launching their service project this week which is the EliMiNaTe Project to help rid the world of Maternal Neonatal Tetanus. This is an international project between Kiwanis International and UNICEF. Scouts will be raising awareness and funds to help eliminate this disease around the world.

Scouts are reminded to bring their Scout Books with them to this week's meeting.

Scouts Service Project 2014 - Sep 24

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week.  Last week we picked a service project called the Eliminate Project that the Kiwanis International and UNICEF to eliminate Maternal Neonatal Tetanus.  This week the Scouts will be setting our patrol and Troop goals.  We will also be planning our camps and activities for the 2014 year.

Patrol vs. Patrol Corn Maze Challenge - Sep 17th

The Scouts will be taking on a challenge from the Vents, Cubs and Beavers on who has better skills at navigating.  Best place to do this challenge is to enter the Corn Maze.  Out two Scout Patrols will be competing against each other as well.  Please arrive at 6:20 pm at the Edmonton Corn Maze and dress for the weather and bring a flashlight.

Patrols at the Ready (Sep 10th)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School Gym this week starting at 6:30 pm.  We will continue with patrol development and continue planning for our Scouting Year.  Scouts are reminded to be in full uniform and have their Scout Books.

Scout Swim-Up 2014 (April 30th)

We will be meeting at Emily Murphy Park (11904 Emily Murphy Park Road NW) at the sheltered Picnic Site (on your left when you enter the park). We will be holding our Swim Up Ceremony and Volunteer Appreciation that evening. There will be plenty of food and fun for the whole family. The fun starts at 6:30 PM.

Scouts Games Night - (April 16th)

Our Scout Year is almost at an end with few meeting left this month. This week we have planned games, Fort Edmonton Camp prep and time for Scouts to test for badges.

We will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week at our regular time of 6:30 PM.

Troop Alert - April 9th

Scouts,

After a long Spring Break it is time to get back to work on getting reading for Fort Edmonton Scout Camp.  We will also be building mouse trap racers.

We are back at the Parkallen School starting at 6:30 PM.

Scouts on Spring Break - (April 2nd)

There is no meeting this week due to Spring Break.  Scouts next meeting is next week on April 9th at the Parkallen School.

This week Scouts will be donning their skates and showing off their mad skills on the ice.

Scout Campfire Night - (Mar19th)

Scouts will be meeting at the Evangelical Fellowship Church (10511 - 79 Ave) in the youth room for a Campfire Celebration.   We will be meeting at 6:30 PM and please come in full uniform.

Scouts Tobogganing - (Mar 5)

This week Scouts will be meeting at the Mill Wood Park for a night of tobogganing. The Toboggan hill is located next the park parking lot on 66 Street North of 23rd Avenue across the Street from Mill Woods Town Centre Mall. Please dress for the weather, bring your favourite toboggan and for safety please bring a helmet. We will be meeting at the hill starting at 6:30 PM. 

Scouts Winter Camp 2014 Prep - (Feb 26)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week to finish planning their Winter Camp 2014 preparations. 

Emergency Shelter Making (Feb 19th)

Scouts have been working hard these past two weeks practicing their lashing skills.  This week we will be learning what it takes to make a shelter and planning for our Winter Camp.

Lashing Part 2 & Winter Camp Prep - (Feb 12th)

Scouts will continue to work on their lashing skills and start the planning for the 2014 Winter Camp.

Lashing Basics (Feb 5th)

Lashing skills come in very handy when one goes camping and ever Scout should know hope to lash two pieces of wood together.  This week the Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School and we will be learning the ancient art of lashing.

Scouts Ice On Whyte - (Jan 29th)

Scouts will be meeting at the Ice on Whyte Festival located at End of Steel Park: Gateway Blvd (103 Street) and Tommy Banks Way, Edmonton, Alberta.  Parents and siblings are welcomed to attend.

 Gate admission is:

 Children 2 - 12 years old $3
 Under 2 free

Knife Safety Test - (Jan 22)

Scouts have spent the last two weeks learning about knives, sharpening knives, how to take of a knife, how to use a knife safely and most importantly how to pass someone a knife safely. This week the Scouts get to test their knowledge and earn the very exclusive Knife Safety Permit. We will be meeting and testing at the Parkallen School.

Knife Safety - Part 2 (Jan 15th)

Scouts will be working on their second part of the knife safety this week at the Parkallen School.  Please bring your knife and scout book.

We have a special guest instructor this week to who will be teaching us about knife safety.  This is a 2 part instruction that will help you earn your knife permit for camps.
