Scouts 2013 Year End Party (Dec 11)

This will be our last regular meeting for 2013 before we break for the holidays.  Regular meetings will begin again on January 8, 2014 at the Parkallen School.  We will be meeting at the Evangelical Fellowship Church (10511 - 79 Avenue) on December 11th starting at 6:30 PM.  We will be having an end of the 2013 year party, handing out badges, giving Cubs and Scouts their "Kub Kar" kits to work on over the holiday break.

Scout Skate 2013 (Dec 4)

This week Scouts will be donning their skates and showing off their mad skills on the ice.

**We will be meeting at the George S. Hughes Arena at 10525-72 Ave. we will be there for public skate from 6:30 to 7:30. To maximize the skate time feel free to show up before 6:30 to put your skates on.

Scout Swim 2013 (Nov 27)

Scouts will be going for a swim this week at the Commonwealth Recreation Centre Pool (11000 Stadium Road, attached to the Commonwealth Stadium, home of the Edmonton Eskimos!!!!) starting at 6:30 PM. Please dress warm and bring change for the locker rental.

Badges and Knots (Nov 20)

Scouts, At lat meeting I advised all Scouts that they will need to test for one badge of your choice for our next meeting on Nov 20th. Maxium of two badges per scout to be tested this week. If you were not at last week's meeting please let me know what badge you would like to to test for. Also, please review your knots and be prepared to show two knots other than reef knot and clove hitch.

Scouts Mystery Meeting (Nov 13)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week. Please dress in full uniform and bring your Scout Hand Book and note book.

Investiture & Special Guest (Nov 6)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School in full uniform this week as we will be inversting our new members and with Remembrance Day a week away we have a special guest speaker. There are many Brave Canadians that work to protect us and others around the world. This week one of these brave guys will be visiting us and talking about some of the things he does so we can enjoy our freedoms and help other people.

Scouts Haunted House 2013 - Oct 30th

Scouts have been planning for the last two weeks on creating a scary haunted house for the Cubs and Beavers.  Please bring your scary items and dress up for some scary Halloween Fun.

Scouts - Investiture Prep (Oct 23rd)

Scouts will be going over their investiture preparations this week.  We will also be completing our planning for the annual Scout Haunted House for our Halloween Party next week.

Annual Fall Nature Walk (Oct 16th)

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week to take part in our annual Fall Nature Walk through the Parkallen Neighbourhood. We will be delivering flyers for our upcoming Bottle Drive / Food Bank Drive taking place on October 19th. Please dress in uniform and dress for the weather.

Time to learn how to Lash - Oct 9th

Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week. We will be working on Halloween Fun House Preparations and learning how to lash. Please bring your Scout Books for this meeting.

Oct 2nd - No Meeting

There will be no meeting for the Scouts this week due to Fall Camp. We will be back at the Parkallen School on Oct 9th.

Fall Camp Preparations - Sep 25th

Scouts 2nd Meeting of the Year - Sep 18th

Scoutss will be meeting at the Parkallen School Gym this week starting at 6:30 PM. We will be organizing our Patrols and continuing program activities for the year. As a reminder, our Fall Camp is coming up fast (Sep 27 - 29th) at Camp Evansburg, more information about the camp will be available at next meeting.

Scout Swim-Up, April 24, 2014

We will be meeting at Emily Murphy Park (11904 Emily Murphy Park Road NW) at the sheltered Picnic Site (on your left when you enter the park). We will be holding our Swim Up Ceremony and Volunteer Appreciation that evening. There will be plenty of food and fun for the whole family. The fun starts at 6:30 PM.

Preparations and Lots of Fun before Camp

Scouts will be having their last regular meeting for the 2012/2013 year at the Parkallen School on April 17th.  We have some final badge testing, camp preparations to go over and have lots of fun before the night is out.

Planning for Fort Edmonont Camp 2013

Scouts will be meeting this week to start their planning for the upcoming Fort Edmonton Camp on May 3 - 5th.  Scouts will confirming their menue, camping list and event list for this camp.

Flyer Drop 2013 Spring Bottle Drive

Scouts will be meeting at the the Parkallen School this week to do deliver flyers for our upcoming Bottle Drive and Food Bank Drive on April 6th.  Please dress for the weather and wear your neckers.

Sea Critter Night - March 20th

Scouts, this week is Sea Critters Night. The lab on campus is room Z 211, this is on the second floor (main ground level) of the Biological Sciences Building (11 B4 on Map Below). Access is from the loading dock passage door on the West end of the building which enters into the Genetics wing (G), proceed east into the main elevator stair well area, if you continue east you end up in Centre Wing (CW), do not go there! From the stair well go north into the Zoology Wing (Z) and the lab is a few doors down. If you go too far you end up in the Psychology wing.

Re Parking, There is no long term legal parking by the loading dock, There are 15 minute meters and the University tickets a lot. Pay parking is available in Windsor car park, or the Faculty Club parking lot, or more expensive metered street parking on Saskatchewan Drive. The loading dock drive is off Saskatchewan Drive between the Bio Science building and the Faculty Club (Northeast corner of the University Campus).

Final Prep for Winter Camp

Last week the Scouts were given the task of planning and advising leaders of the type of activities they would like to participate in as this year's Winter Camp.  The list was long and the activities diverse but we only have three days and we need to plan for eating and sleeping.  This week the Scouts will finalized the activities they want to do and make any changes to their camping list.

First Aid

Now that we have learnt knife safety and care it is only logical to move to First Aid.  Scouts will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week to work on their First Aid badge.

Advanced Knife Safety

Scouts will be continuing their knife safety training this week at the Parkallen School.  We will have a special guest joining us to demonstrate proper knife safety and care.

Earning the Knife Permit

Scouts will be learning about knife safety as part of their Knife Permit requirements.  Please bring yur Scout book to the meeting this week.

Warm Weather Hike

Since it is soooooo warm outside Scouts will be taking a little hike to enjoy the weather.  Please dress for the weather and bring an extra pair of dry socks just incase your boots are not as water resitant as you thought.
